AIYA has popularized matcha culture overseas since 1983. Overseas markets had stricter food standards compared to the Japanese standards. However, AIYA, with its quality control department, has produced matcha with priority on safety and hygiene, and passed the standards to enter the overseas markets. The many certifications obtained also helped entering the overseas markets.
Matcha is now in demand worldwide not only in health aspects but also for the taste and Japanese cultural background. Awareness on matcha is globally widespread and is known as MATCHA, not as a type of green tea.
